Every release is compared against TrueNAS® CORE 13.3 in virtual machines and on two physical machines.

physical

HP ProLiant DL360 G6, iLO 2, four 2.5-inch SAS disks. Runs the full suite.

guests

Supermicro X9DRH-7TF in an SC826, twelve 3.5-inch bays. Idle: its backplane has failed and it has no disks.

Results are on the Tests page. The lab still needs NVMe hardware.

server

One 1U or 2U rack server from the last ten years, any vendor. HTML5 console and Redfish on the management processor, a CPU that runs bhyve guests, eight or more bays, a controller that passes disks through, one NVMe slot.

disks

3.5-inch SAS or SATA disks from 200 GB to 8 TB, five or more for the Supermicro. 2.5-inch disks for the HP. Small SATA SSDs as boot disks. One NVMe device.

SC826

A BPN-SAS2-826EL1 or any other SC826 backplane, and 3.5-inch drive trays for that chassis.

HBAs

IT-mode LSI SAS2308 or SAS3008 cards with SFF-8087 or SFF-8643 cables. External variants with a SAS disk shelf.

memory

DDR3 ECC, in matched pairs.

also

10 GbE SFP+ cards and DACs, SFP modules, patch cables, a switched PDU, a UPS with USB or serial signalling.

Not needed: CPUs, GPUs, 1 GbE cards, desktop parts.
